This article discusses how teachers can go about teaching digital citizenship. In other words, digital citizenship is the proper way to behave while using computers, the internet, and new technologies all together. It is important that teachers know and become aware of new advancements in technology so they can either teach them to their studnets, or even just get up to par with their students. Children these days grow up with the latest and greatest technology, so it is important to get across to them the ediquette when using it, as well as being able to keep them engaged at school by using it. As teachers begin to teach and use new modes of technology it is important to have a plan and be aware of students abusing information and have them complete the proper consequences for their actions. It is also important to understand starting out is often the worst part of learning. Tell students this, and get throught the tough stuff together. Students learn better, most of the time, when they can get hands on experience, this includes learning appropriate online behavior. Let them create their own tools or individualized learning environment, because this could lead to classroom discussions or them teaching their parents, keeping everyone involved.

Q:Why is it important to teach ediquette to students using the internet at school when they have all the access they need at home most of the time?
A: It is important to teach them about what websites are educational and are of quality and which ones are not. It is also important that students understand the impact of being a good digital citizen just as it is important to be a good citizen in their community. Good habits learned at school can lead to good habits used at home.
Q: What is a flat classroom and what can it do for students?
A: A flat classroom is an idea that by connecting with other classrooms or people around the world through the use of internet and interactive programs, the walls of a traditional classroom fall down. This is important that students get educated beyond the classroom and relate information to life. It also gives them endless resources to expand their knowledge.
